Wulfenite on Azurite with Dolomite and Smithsonite
Wulfenite on Azurite with Dolomite and Smithsonite
Wulfenite on Azurite with Dolomite and Smithsonite, Tsumeb Mine, Oshikoto Region, Namibia RARE
A sparkling miniature presenting yellow-tan laminar crystals of Wulfenite on a galena matrix coated by small crystals of Azurite, microcrystalline, pinkish-white Dolomite, and light tan, stepped rhombohedra of Smithsonite. It is reported that the Smithsonite-Azurite combination is quite rare for Tsumeb pieces. This specimen was sourced directly from the notable South African collector Clive Queit almost forty years ago, during the heyday of the early 1980s, and has been in a private collection ever since. It is of average quality for Tsumeb, with a few nicks and dings, and was probably smuggled out of the mine in the boots or dungarees of a worker, as was so often the case.
Dimensions: 5 x 3 x 2 cm.
