Wulfenite, Defiance Mine, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
A flashy, multi-faceted, gemmy compound crystal with mirror-like luster and the classic “windowpane” transparency, from the famous Defiance Mine of Arizona, from which specimens of national museum quality have been sourced. This lovely butterscotch-colored piece was probably collected in the 1970s. The piece is notable for its curved crystal faces, which impart a pearlescent luster and internal fire when rotated in the light (see video). There is minor nipping, as is very common for these “old-timer” pieces, which is not really apparent to the naked eye.
Dimensions: 13 x 10 x 5 mm. The acrylic square is 0.5 inch (12 mm) for scale.
