Variscite
Variscite
Variscite, Lucin Claim, Box Elder Co., Utah, USA RARE and CHOICE!
This is a big, solid chunk of gorgeous gem variscite from the classic U.S. locality, weighing in at 12.85 ounces (364 grams). Variscite is known from dozens of localities around the world, but the Lucin locality is noted for outstanding variscite specimens, amongst the better pieces from the United States. While this specimen is suitable for lapidary, these pieces are becoming increasingly hard to come by, and the aesthetics of this piece, notably the fine flow textures within the variscite and its sublime variegated coloration, make for a unique addition to any mineral connoisseur’s collection. One face has been sliced and polished to show the nodule interior. This is a rare and unusual matrix specimen - most pieces are free-floating nodules by the time they are found. This material was acquired in the 1960s and has been uncirculated in a private collection ever since.
Dimensions: 8 x 6 x 4.5 cm.
