Stibnite, Raura, Cajatambo Province, Lima, Peru RARE
China recently banned exports to the United States of critical minerals that have widespread military applications, including antimony. One of the most important antimony minerals is Stibnite, a rare example of which is shown from the Raura mining district, Cajatambo Province, Lima, Peru. It is comprised of a spray of matrix-less, steel-grey-bladed crystals with a satiny metallic luster, with fairly well-defined terminations. Specimens like this were never in great supply and hardly ever come on the market. Acquired at the TGMS in the early 1990s.
Dimensions: Height = 5 cm. The crown measures 26 x 20 mm.
