Kulanite with Lazulite, Siderite, and Quartz, Crosscut Creek, Yukon, Canada TYPE LOCALITY

Presenting an uncommon specimen of Kulanite crystals, accompanied by gemmy blue Lazulite, lustrous, glassy siderite, and Quartz. “This old-timer” specimen – with a David Shannon label – comes from the type locality, Rapid Creek - the famous phosphate deposit of Yukon, Canada. This geologically intriguing locality is known as the source for the very finest specimens of this very rare barium, iron, and aluminum phosphate. The well-shaped Kulanite crystals present very dark (almost black) color and strong luster. They are accompanied by the lovely mineral Lazulite, a rare magnesium aluminum phosphate. The transparent deep indigo blue to royal blue colored Lazulite crystals are sharp, gemmy, and highly lustrous. Lustrous, gemmy, honey-amber siderite and sharp Quartz crystals enrich the display. One of the macro shots includes a detail I infer to be siderite with rare lamellar twinning, but this is conjecture on my part. Sourced from a 40+ year old collection.  David Shannon Minerals label.

Dimensions: 30 x 30 x 20 mm.
