A striking and unusual, very sculptural, complete all-around floater of loosely aggregated copper crystals. The unusually vibrant red coloration is due to a microcrystalline coating of either cuprite or chalcotrichite, as shown in the sub-mm scale macrophotography. Although the massive copper-gold-molybdenum deposits of the Chengmenshan porphyry complex have been mined for centuries, very few specimens survive the blast furnace. There are very few currently available in the digital marketplace.
