Clinochlore (Var: Kämmererite), Kop Krom Mine, Kop Daglari, Aşkale District, Erzurum Province, Turkey
Kämmererite is the rare, chromium-rich variety of clinochlore. The type locality is the Kop Krom Mine, the primary source for the highest quality kämmererite, known for its transparent crystals and intense magenta color. This "old timer" specimen presents the classic combination of deep magenta microcrystals on black chromite ore. The translucent, gemmy crystals form very well-defined faces and edges and literally glow when backlit. These were extracted from ore pockets at the mine between the mid-1970s to mid-1990s and are only seldom seen in the market today. Sourced from a 40-year-old collection and has since been uncirculated. One edge has a chisel or splitting mark, which could be improved.
